What a website actually costs in India, and what you are paying for

The single biggest cost driver is not design. It is how many other systems the site has to talk to. A five-page brochure site is a known quantity. The same five pages plus a login, a payment gateway, and a sync back into Tally is a different project wearing the same clothes.

The second is who owns the ongoing work. A cheap build often means the hosting, the domain, and the CMS licence sit in the agency's account, and the low quote is recovered over three years of renewals you cannot leave. Ask where the credentials will live before you compare prices.

Content is the cost nobody quotes for. Most delays we see are not development — they are waiting on photos, service descriptions, and the final list of what the business actually does. If you can hand over the content on day one, you have removed the most common reason projects slip.

A fair way to compare two quotes: ask both to list what happens after launch. Who fixes a broken form at 9pm, who applies security updates, and what it costs. The answer usually explains the gap in the numbers better than the feature list does.
